Ok so this first entry probably seems a bit weird, it's on a
website which is about Chinese cooking sauces. But this is my blog and I choose
to write whatever I like and I've chosen to write about the stunning food from
BBQWhiskyBeer.
This was my 2nd visit to BBQWhiskyBeer which was situated at the Wargrave Arms. They have no ended their residency there but fear not, they'll be at Street Feast London on Fridays and Saturdays with plans to find a more permanent spot.

I was meeting up with 2 good friends from law school days.
There's nothing better than catching up with friends that you haven't seen for
a while, sharing stories, talking about everything from relationships, politics
to future plans. But to be honest the catching up was a mere undercard to
the main event; the food.
We had studied the menu intently, 3 guys on a real mission
to fill their empty bellies. I realised just as I asked 'should we order
starters' that it was probably one of the most pointless questions I've uttered
in a long time. Of course we should order starters, and we duly did. We opted
for the hot wings, and the wonderfully named 'Fryer Trash'. The hot wings
were yummy, I think I still prefer pattyandbun's wings but these were still
great. They were covered in a sticky, tangy, sweet buffalo sauce which had a
slight spicy kick, a real mess to eat, just as it should be. So what's this
'Fryer Trash' I hear you ask? It's a bed of their triple cooked chips topped
with 24 hour cooked pulled pork covered in bbq sauce. This was a mammoth
starter which would dwarf most main courses. The pork was really tender and
most of the chips were crunchy, except for the ones that had sauce on it. The
soft pork and crunchy chips was a nice contrast with the bbq sauce pulling
these two elements together. For £5 this was an absolute bargain.
Now on to the mains, my friends order burgers, one Beef Royale and one Fried Chicken Sandwich. These are real stacked burgers, the Beef Royale was a beef short rib with mushroom ketchup topped with a onion ring. The Fried Chicken Sandwich was a huge chuck of fried chicken in a crispy batter topped with jalapeƱo cheese and tomato relish. 2 very good looking burgers which had to be tackled with knives and forks by my friends (losers).

As I mentioned before, this was my 2nd visit to BBQWhiskyBeer. The first time I
went I opted for the Beef Royale. I tried some of the award winning Beef Ribs
and I have to say I wasn't blown away that time. I decided to give it a 2nd go
and boy was that a smart decision. I was served up this giant jacobs ladder
beef rib. Now I'm no expert on the noble art of barbecuing but when your knive
slices through the meat effortlessly you know you're onto a winner. There's
something really satisfying when you pull the meat away from the bone and it
comes clean off. The smokiness of the great without being overpowering and was
complemented well with the pickles and coleslaw. This was a real meat lovers
paradise and after polishing off the ribs you can completely see why they were
winners of Ribstock 2013.

I hope that BBQWhiskyBeer do find a more permanent home in London because they really do deserve it, and London really needs it.
When they do I can assure you that I'll be one of their regulars.
